From café’s to cobblestones, read all about our 4-day adventure through this beautiful city.
DAY 1 – Saturday
After a 7-hour flight from Toronto, we landed in Paris. Although it was cold and cloudy, we didn’t let that get our spirits down. We were eager to head to our hotel and start exploring the city immediately.
After checking in and settling in to our hotel, we felt that a latte was well deserved. We ventured out to La Marais and walked along the markets admiring the buckets of fresh florals, fish markets and sweet-smelling boulangeries. We found the café we were headed to called Obla-di. It was so quaint, decorated with wooden tables and lined with mesmerizing blue-tiled floors. After our lattes and scones, we were off to do some more exploring. We ended up grabbing dinner later that night at a random café. While we sat outside admiring the tourists and locals that wandered by, we kept warm with our French onion soups and Bourdeaux wine. We decided being up for 24-hours was starting to catch up to us so we called it a night at our hotel but not before we caught a glimpse of the Eiffel tower glitter and sparkle.
Day 2 – Sunday
We both got up at 9am ready to tackle the day! We decided to head out to Champs Eylsées to walk up and down the streets admiring the shops. Since the weather was not in our favour, we had to bundle up a little because it was rainy and chilly. We soon discovered most shops were closed on Sundays or opened later – not good for us but good for our wallets.
We decided to grab brunch at Laduree and keep our high tea tradition from London still in tact with tea, scones and sandwiches. Of course, our high tea experience at Laduree wouldn’t be complete without some of their delicious macarons.
After brunch, the weather decided to turn around for us. It quickly warmed up and we immediately had more pep in our step. We decided to head to the Picasso Museum since it was free. We jumped on the subway to head out there, after the museum we decided to wander in and around the area. Popping in and out of cute shops and admiring the beautiful courtyards and parks people were having lunch in. We then wandered around Grand Palais, had ice cream at Luxembourg Gardens, got lost on St. Honore and St. Germain. We must have walked for miles but every street we turned down we couldn’t stop admiring all the beauty Paris and the parisiennes had to offer. By 9pm, we decided it was time to head to the hotel to change for dinner. Because of all that walking we felt a good burger was in order, so we walked to a local burger place that served up delicious hamburgers and fries!
Day 2 – Monday
We decided to do some more touring around before we met some of our friends from Armani for lunch. We headed out to some of the spots again in Champs Elysées, the Seine River where the flooding was happening and the beautiful Pont Alexander III bridge that overlooked the Eiffel tower.
Then it was time to meet our friends. Lunch at the Hotel Bachaumont where we were staying was delicious! After fueling up, we were ready to see more of Paris. We headed to Jardin Tuileries where we decided to ride on swings, venture through gardens and admire the birds. We walked past all the beautiful attractions of Paris and then went to the rooftop of Galerie Lafayette of the 9th Arrondissement. With a breathtaking view and a glass of rose in hand, how could I not get a shot over looking this beautiful city? After this view, it was time to head back to the hotel to dress for dinner.
Dinner was at La Belle Epoque where we indulged in steak and frites and delicious breads with the creamiest butter.
Day 3 – Tuesday
Today was a big day! It was the press presentation for Armani’s exclusive collection of its new Lip Magnet line. We learned how Armani decided to take their lipsticks to the next level of boldness and long-lasting pigments. The pigmented lipsticks felt light and were carefully crafted for over 5 years by experts in the business. After the presentation, we were lucky enough to try out some of the new lipsticks.
After lunch and a day of wandering around, it was then time to get glammed up by the Armani beauty specialists at Le Bon Marché. I felt like a princess getting my makeup done before this chic party event. We went back to the hotel, put on our best cocktail chic dresses and went to dinner. We then waltzed in fashionably late to the “dress your lips party” by Armani at Grand Palais. This party was nothing I’ve ever been to. The music was pumping, champagne was flowing and people were dancing. I had to stop and soak it all in because it was so surreal. I’m so glad our last night in Paris went out with a big bang.
My take away from this city? It was and always will be one of my favourite cities to visit. The people and the places were beautiful and charming. Every minute was an adventure and something that I’ll never forget. This trip to Paris is definitely a magical and memorable one that I will remember for many years to come. I can’t wait to go back!
