Street style

I’m so excited to share this special street style series with the talented Alice Woods.

So when Alice asked if I’d be up for a photo shoot it was a no brainer – a session with a professional photographer? Umm yes.

I was given brief instructions to wear a dress or something comfortable because we’d be roaming the streets of King St. on a Friday evening, at dusk. I knew this shoot was going to be good, as soon as I saw her whip out her 3 cameras (each weighing in about 20 lbs) and a look on her face like “you better be ready, we’re heading out” I knew instantly to drop all my insecurities.

Dress | Jacket | Pumps | PurseChoker | Layered Necklace

As soon as we got to King, there was no standing around. Alice literally gave me instructions to start walking ahead, twirling around, picking up fruit on stands. It was quite the experience to not have to stand in one place. But walking, twirling and even climbing things (yes, climbing in a dress) was encouraged and it made for the best shots.

As we laughed up and down King Street and weaved in and out of people walking by, she captured the most candid moments of me laughing, screaming and having the best time. Shooting at dusk was something I had never tried, and shooting with so much emotion was such a positive experience for me.

There was no fear of people watching, any awkwardness had disappeared, and it was just two friends giggling and laughing. Everyone around us was under the impression this was a serious photo session and even tried to step out of the way, but Alice quickly told them not to – the more natural the better.

This girl was so good, she even got me on a streetcar (for the first time I might add – I know …) and took photos as everyone leaned out of the way for her to get a shot of me holding onto the railings.

I had an amazing time and the pictures were absolutely stunning. I tried new things I’ve never been able to try and loved how she captured so many “in the moments” shots. This was such a fun and positive experience for me and I was able to take that confidence with me.

If you’re looking for a photographer for your wedding, engagement, or just fun photo shoots, email Alice Woods @ alicedb22@gmail.com or check out her IG @japhygirl . She is truly an amazing and talent photographer with such a unique eye.
