Strawberry Almond Smoothie

Today on the blog, I’m blending up this healthy smoothie with strawberries and almonds.

Most of us are at a loss when it comes to “healthy eating.”

Sometimes, a healthy lifestyle or a strict diet can leave us unsatisfied (dying of hunger within an hour), broke (let’s face it, eating anything organic isn’t cheap), or just confused as we wander up and down the grocery isle looking for these obscure items. I think we all ask ourselves the same question – why does eating healthy have to be so hard? I’ve asked myself that many times, and I’ve tried to find solutions to these common issues. Bit by bit, I’ve been discovering recipes and creating my own that include ingredients we already have in our fridge. So, when I saw this recipe on Pinterest I wanted to try it but decided to add some of my own ingredients to it.

This recipe is 100% gluten free, but you can choose to add oats, protein powder, chia seeds, granola or anything else you have on hand depending on your dietary restrictions.

Here’s what this recipe calls for.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups of strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup of almonds (raw)
  • 2/3 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 cup grass fed, full-fat Greek Yogurt
  • 1 tsp agave sugar

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Throw all ingredients into a blender
  • Blend until smooth
  • Enjoy!

THINGS YOU CAN ADD:

  • Protein powder
  • Chia seeds
  • Hemp hearts
  • Granola
  • Coconut shavings
  • Oats (gluten free oats)

Things to note, this smoothie is very thick and creamy, if you prefer your smoothie to be a little looser, you can always add water or more almond milk to it.
